About R.E.Q.M. · Tucson, AZ

This Didn’t Start in a Boardroom.

Accounting Is Practically Hereditary Around Here.

A boutique accounting and advisory firm built by an operator, raised by a CPA, and devoted to small business owners who deserve a real translator — not a folder of PDFs and a polite goodbye.

A Half-Century of Books, a Lifetime of Listening

R.E.Q.M. did not begin in a boardroom. It began at a kitchen table in Connecticut, where a young Greer Bernstein learned debits before decimals, watched her father translate stress into spreadsheets for fifty years of grateful clients, and quietly absorbed the single most important lesson in this profession: brilliant business owners rarely struggle because they are bad with money. They struggle because no one ever sat down and explained the numbers in a language they actually speak.

That lesson never left. After two decades of running the very businesses most accountants only read about — restaurants, a celebrated boutique inn, an award-winning wine program, a cult-favorite supper club — Greer founded R.E.Q.M. to do the work the way she always wished someone had done it for her. With clarity. With patience. With actual time on the calendar. And with the rare, slightly inconvenient honesty of someone who has stood behind the line on a Saturday night and knows exactly what a 32% food cost feels like in your bones.

R.E.Q.M. is named, in part, for the companions who have made the years worth counting — paw prints for the dogs, horseshoes for the horses. Today the firm serves a deliberately small roster across Tucson, Southern Arizona, and remote clients beyond, continuing a family tradition of boutique, hands-on accounting with a modern, witty, unapologetically human twist.

The Assumptions That Shape Every Engagement

Greer Bernstein — Founder, Accountant, Translator-in-Chief

Greer is the founder of R.E.Q.M. and the person you will actually work with — not a sales rep, not an account manager, not a name on a directory page who hands you off after the contract is signed. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a major in Finance and Accounting, and a CPA-trained lineage that goes back fifty years to her father’s practice.

Before founding R.E.Q.M., she spent more than twenty years operating the kinds of businesses most accountants only see from across the desk — managing a Wine Spectator–recognized inn, owning a farm-to-table restaurant that grew revenue 40% in its first year under her, handling payroll, negotiating with vendors at midnight, and quietly rebuilding charts of accounts across Connecticut, New York, Virginia, and Arizona. Nothing in a P&L surprises her. Very little escapes her. She is based in Tucson, occasionally supervised by Ronin and Mac, who do not bill.

A Calm First Conversation. No Pitch. No Obligation.

If the family lineage, the field experience, or the refusal to talk down to clients resonated, there’s a good chance we’ll get along. You don’t need your books in order first. You just need a place to begin.
